Methven 5 V Timaru City 5

Methven FC have kick started their preseason campaign, hosting their first friendly match.
This was the perfect chance to get our new look squad into action and help improve their stamina, sharpness and competitiveness.
The friendly was split into 3 x 30 minute halves, allowing both sides to make changes and try different formations.
After the first period Methven had the upper hand, leading 4-2 at the break, with goals from Jorge Ventriglia and a hat trick from Colin Cameron.
The second period brought about wholesale changes by manager, Marc Davies, but unfortunately the Mountainers were unable to maintain their momentum and went in at 5-4, with another glorious strike from goal machine, Cameron.

We entered the final period with the sun in full effect and fatigue setting in for both sides. This was to pay dividends as the hosts were left flat footed at a corner and the equaliser was claimed for Timaru and there the match finished, honours even and overall a great test for our lads. Methven will go again next week when they take on Western Roars, as their preseason continues.
