Methven football club was established as a Junior club in 1982 and building from youth level remains a big part of our foundation to this day.

With the club limited to junior football, players would move on to other areas such as mid Canterbury and Christchurch. In 2008 Methven FC Seniors was established, allowing players to be part of their local team. From then on Methven FC have gone from strength to strength. 

The original starting line up included such Methven legends as current first team coach Marc Davies and former president OJ Dodson who remain integral to the club. 

Success soon followed with our seniors moving up through the Canterbury divisions, winning the league and cup double in 2018 and earning successive promotions in 2018 and 2019.

Methven FC, known as "the Mountaineers”, now ply their trade in the Canterbury 2nd Division and will be looking to improve on last year's 2nd place finish to lift the trophy in 2021!
