Straight into the final

Another week and another cancelled game for the Methven Seniors. A total of 6 matches have been forfeited over the course of the season, which is a staggering figure and one which the league must look into and compensate. Burwood were the offenders this time round. This means that Methven FC will go straight into the final this coming Saturday  after a 3 week lay off. Not the most ideal preparations for such an important match as last seasons champions league final will back up. The old enemy Western Generals will travel to Methven domain for the season showdown on 31st August, 2:30pm kick off.

The reserves did however still have a game in Christchurch against Parklands Utd. Like last week they were equipped with some of the younger first team players and by halftime they were well and truly in the tie with the scores pegged at 2-2. Both strikers, Gerald Malbon and Stimolo got their names in the scoresheet for The visitors. The hosts turned it on in the second period and shattered the valiant Reserves hearts, demolishing them 5-2. There have been plenty of harsh lessons dealt to the second string side this season and today was no exception. They still have next week to hopefully restore some pride, in their last appearance of this season against Halswell United Globetrotters at Warren Park on Saturday.

In the earlier kick off, Methven 14th grade made it three out of three, defeating Waimak Utd 14th 0-3, away in Christchurch.
