Goal fest at Methven Domain

Methven FC 11 V Christchurch United Prebbleton Shamrocks 0
The Mountaineers welcomed back a couple of big guns to their arsenal after a 5 week lay off and a mixture of experience and youthful energy, produced a beautiful concoction of fast, flowing, fluent, attacking football; creating a devasting effect on the visitors.
In hindsight the Shamrocks should have gone skiing for the day but unfortunately for them, they showed up and witnessed a first half demolition as Methven ran riot with goals from Nick Eden, Jan Luccini, Liam Hett, Liam Sheppard and a bullet of a header from Wesley Torres. By half time the hosts had a 7-0 lead and were definitely in the comfort zone. However this can sometimes not be the best scenario to be in and soon enough complacency crept in and Methven invited the Shamrocks onto them. A good opportunity to test their defense of course but not keeping to the standards of the game, which they had laid out. A 20 minute period was slugged out before Methven resumed their total authority again. Eden added more to his tally and was a constant thorn in the Shamrocks side, netting 5 in total in the afternoon. Luccini didn’t make a bad comeback either, bagging a hattrick; a final score of 11-0
Methven Reserves 5 V FC Twenty 11 0

Finally the reserves had something of their own to celebrate after they put their visitors to the sword in robust fashion.
The early season whipping boys put the record straight with goals from Jacob Ermio, Kobee King and Cam Manson. The afternoon was made more special as long serving veteran and club president, Martin OJ Dodson celebrated his 50th birthday putting in a strong performance on the pitch with his legs and then later with his belly, gutsing plenty of drink and not all of it his signature orange juice, well done.
